Equestrian opportunities around Charlotte

Some clients have asked about equestrian events in the Charlotte, Weddington or Lake Norman area. With a lifetime appreciation of riding hunters and dressage,  I understand the desire to be near your horse or pony. Carolina is horse country!

Hunter/jumper and dressage lessons are available, as well as trail riding. There are shows, fox hunts and many clinics in addition to weekly lessons. Please contact me for additional information and recommendations.

Many people are moving just over the Mecklenburg/Union County line to Weddington, Waxhaw, Marvin, and Wesley Chapel because of the lower taxes and good schools...and to be closer to their horses and ponies. The Fort Mill area, to the south of Ballantyne in South Carolina,  is growing rapidly with many new and beautiful subdivisions.

In April, the Charlotte Jumper Classic comes to town at the Time Warner Arena. It is one of the most exciting show jumping events in the nation. The three-day competition attracts internationally acclaimed equestrians and their mounts to compete for $700,000 in prize money. McClain Ward, pictured left, is a regular competitor in the Charlotte Grand Prix. It also holds jumper classes for junior, adult and ameteur riders. You can see other notable renown competitors at the Jumper Classic including Beezie Madden, Laura Kraut and Paige Johnson, daughter of the Charlotte Bobcats owner and founder of BET, Bob Johnson. Hope to see you there!

Where is my favorite place to ride?

Below are a few of area stables that offer lessons, boarding, show services and safe mounts for all levels of riders.
